WOW. What a celebration!!!!! Gayle and myself felt most impressed by The Parrots' 5000th find, 100 cache placed !! well done, we hope your next 5000 will be as much fun.
We arrived just before the appointed time, were stunned to see people with shields and swords trying to kill each other,.......... hang on a minute, thats not someone fighting over a FTF is it ???? naahhhh just some people having a friendly joust.
Mrs. Parrot was doing a fantastic job on the BBQ, well done.
I think everyone had a wonderful time, we were lucky the weather stayed on our side, I think ASTRO had arranged CLEAR SKIES for us!!
we signed the PARROT log, enjoyed a snag or 2 and were most greatful on a piece of the celebration cake.
Well Done !!
Cheers from the FLIPPERS,
Gayle/Mark.
Ps our 1800 find.

Huge congratulations Parrothead. I'm sure you realised this but there were many many people at your event (me included) that you introduced to Geocaching. You have helped me plenty to understand many aspects of the sport and it was great to see such a fantastic turn out. Thank you so much for all you have done. Enjoy the special bottle of Port.

(Part 2)
Easter 2007 and I thought it would be a good idea to drive across the Nullarbor plains to grab Astro's Neptune cache. I made it to the border then turned around and came back. June and an another event at the Mount. Then in July Skippy and I headed north and I completed Astro's Solar system series way out the back of Arkaroola. The first person to complete the series and a mighty find meal Astro shouted me when we got back. Then in September 07 Freddo, Skippy and I decided it was time to get rid of the Windmill cache and drove over to the ACT for the weekend so it would stop showing up in GSAK. In October we went over to Victoria and daks took me out caching for a couple of days Back home and we brought up 2000 finds. Then a trip over to Pt Lincoln and a drive throught their excellent national park.
Christmas Crakers in the park and then it was a new year. In March 08 Skippy and I headed to Queensland and had a go at a 24 hour cache run which wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of madmyers and TheKnacks. Back in SA and a trip around the Riverland and a visit out to Taplin Gate. Then in May another trip to the Mount before heading off to Broome. They have 6 caches over there.
In July Skippy, Freddo, Astro and I travelled over to Melbourne to say goodbye to a dear friend and fellow Geocacher. 3000 finds came in October when I joined up with Nibs to do the walk from Alligator Gorge to Mambray Creek campground in the Flinders Ranges. November saw us on the Oodnadatta track and my it was wet. They closed the track while we were on it. Christmas by the lake event and then onto 2009. Back down to the Mount in February. Then the river and Yorkes the next month. In April we headed way north driving up the centre all the way to Darwin. Then back in time for the June event. With a repeat visit to Yorkes two months later before heading over to NSW for my 50th birthday. A climb of the Harbour Bridge and some caching with Richary then back home. At the end of the month a walk with Nibs through Tourille Gorge. Then in October out to the Gammon Ranges. Then another Christmas by the lake event and we finished up the year with our 4000 find after some wonderfull kayaking caches in the Murray. Followed by a couple of weeks caching round the state. We saw out the New Year at Ceduna.
2010 and a seaside event with Shane and Josie down Victor way. By April back over Yorkes way. Then March we headed out for the Mega event via the coast road to Vic then up the Hume highway. May saw us playing with Famer Owen and Prime Ministers along with Someuser, Southern Cross Caching, Mystery Inc and Firesafe whom we met along the way. Then in June another event and here we are.
This doesn’t mention Tuesday night caching or probably caching more than sleeping not to mention all the weekend caching trips I didn’t record.
So that's how I got to five thousand.
Of course this only mentions a few of the people the Parrots have met along the way. So yesterday it was fantastic to see so many who have been a part of our journey.
Thank you so much for coming out and braving the weather.
Caching for me is all about the numbers of people you meet along the way.
Once again to everyone who was there or sent me a message thank you for being part of our journey.

FTF for the Parrot flock don’t anyone even try to challenge I had my knights out practicing before the event just in case.
I started this wonderful journey in April 2004 and now it has become a way of life.
It is with pride that I can say that if I had my time over again I wouldn’t swap my geocaching experiences for anything.
I bought a GPS because when I went on holiday I liked to wander off from a hotel in any random direction and getting back could be a challenge some times.
However I was lucky to be working with Jay from Team Miray who asked me if I had hard of Geocaching and the rest is numbers.
I can still remember my first cache RAAF chapel followed by On Finals then 5 days later we were in Queensland looking for caches and 2 weeks after that NSW. So in 4 cache finds I visited 3 states.
Back in Adelaide and after a few more traditionals I did my first Multi "Mars" by Team Astro. What a great cache to find out about a multicache.
Two months after starting caching my path crossed Unicycle and Gunnell & Pandaabear Which must have been my luckiest day ever caching. Heading for 50 (Road to Portugal) and my logs seemed to cross the path of Sam from Cached more and more and we finally managed to met over a curry.
By August we had 100 find on a Nibs cache (missed you today you have been a big part of this journey) and we have gone on to share a few ports together.
In October we were invited by Gunnell & Pandaabear to join them and some other caches to go to Chowilla in the Riverland near Renmark and so we got to meet GPS, Skippy, Freddo and 2ks away. At one stage all our 4WD's were lined up at a cache and up rolled a tiny 2wd car and out jumped Team Wibble. Then in Jan 05 we went to Mt Gambier and I had great fun swimming to I bags the Island with Adam from Beakers Bunch.
A year had rolled around and we had about 340 finds and got invited away again to Pt Lincoln. This time I decided to make an impression on Skippy by running up the back of his trailer on a dirt road. That friendship must be the most positive experience that has ever come out of a crash.
June 05 and we attended our first June event at Naracoorte. Then my first trip out to Marla with cache finds along the way.
The caches kept piling up and I kept meeting lots of people along the way. Freddo's Holy Grail event Sept 05 was our 500th find. Events have been great as you got to meet the people who had given you so much joy.
Our first event "Christmas feasting in the city" then into 2006 and Four-Funs Loft Peaks series. Then in April 2004 a wonderful thing happened in my life when Beaker invited me to join their trip across the Simpson. I have always loved travel but this took it to another level and I got to find "Pluto" while it was still a planet and stand at Poepel Corner. More caching in Queensland and NSW, Comet Spit was so much fun and we met Wingaap who organised a coffee morning with the locals.
Another June event and a Shonkylogic puzzle. I so love your map it's on all my GPS units. Then I had a go at "The Magnificent Journey.(GCRBP2)" and made a start at the Onkaparinga River series and finished the Lofty peaks series as my 1000 together with Skippy.
Ocober saw a trip to the Flinders with Skippy for an event along with Cached, Zytheran, Burtons, Freddo, The Wackys, Nibs, shonkylogic, chizbeki, Team Ermalesh and The Barramundi's. October events have gone on to become a 4WD tradition.
A trip to Alice. Then to Big Desert and Ngarkat to play in the sand with Cached and Beaker. Then a trip down to Mt Gambier with setsujoku and Skippy for the SECS at Christmas event. Breaking my leg a month before didn’t slow me down. Caching in a cast. Wacky’s even put out a cache close to my home above ground level that I had to climb to in my cast because she knew I would.

Well, after being introduced to geocaching by ParrotHead via the newspaper, we had to attend this event .
As usual, had a great time talking to people (never do seem to meet even half those attending) and were particularly happy the rain held off [^]. The snags and cake were yummy as well .
Also quite amazing to hear what other cachers are achieving [8].
We had a great time . Congratulations on the 5k finds and thanks for the event (and our addiction [^] ) SA ParrotHead.
15th
What a great afternoon. Even with jousting entertainment as well. Congratulations Parrothead - I just have 2000 to go .

Congratulations on your 5000 cache milestone Parrotheads! It's a fantastic achievement that only a handful of dedicated cachers have reached (nice to see a few sprinkled amongst the crowd). Really enjoyed the day, collected a few caches in an area that I don't normally get to, and joined in on a quick foray with MargieH, firesafe, PostItGirl, honeysucker, Sushilord and the intrepid Farmer from Cobar to a find a couple of caches in the immediate vicinity of the event! Thanks again Parrotheads, and well done!
15th
A great time was had, and a few bonus caches made for a great day.
PS I am one of the 'thinkers'. The ten minute discussion with o'cholio helped me with countless puzzle caches in Victoria.
Well done on your achievements SA_Parrothead.

Congrats on reaching 5000, a milestone most of us only dream about [:d]

7th
Mr Wibble has secured the morning shift at open day at Uni so we should be free in the afternoon to make the trip up to celebrate.
Mrs Wibble would offer to cook cupcakes again but these events are getting so big that its almost impossible to keep up with the numbers - I think we were outnumbered 3 people to 1 cupcake at the last event! We'll think of something to bring to help celebrate though.
